HL Deb 10 April 1986 vol 473 cc405-6WA
Baroness Faithfull

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many cardiac units there are in England and Wales and how many district health authorities are without a unit.

Baroness Trumpington

The information is not available in the form requested. However, according to data published in the British Heart Journal in March 1986 the number of cardiac care units in England and Wales on 1st July 1984 was 208, a rise of 46 since 1982. Some of these are in health districts which have more than one cardiac care unit and some are managed by special health authorities.
