HL Deb 09 April 1986 vol 473 cc301-2WA
Baroness Darcy (de Knayth)

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What provision they intend to make for disabled drivers and disabled passengers in the Channel fixed link.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

A users advisory group involving disabled people has already been established by the concessionaires to ensure that the needs of the disabled are fully reflected in the design and provision both of rolling stock for the shuttle services and at the terminal. Facilities for disabled passengers on through trains will be a matter for BR and their Continental partners. BR already have a firm policy to make provision for disabled people in all new rolling stock and facilities.
