asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total income anticipated from the sale of state assets over the next two years.

Mr. Moore

The main categories of disposals are as follows:

  1. (i) Projected proceeds from privatisation accruing directly to the Exchequer are shown in table 2.11 of Cmnd. 9702–11.
  2. (ii) Nationalised industries' forecast receipts from asset disposals, included in the total internal resources figures shown in tables 5.1 and 5.5 of Cmnd. 9702–II, are £184 million in 1986–87 and £159 million in 1987–88.
  3. (iii) Sales of land and buildings by central Government, local authorities, and new towns are forecast to be £2,313 million in 1986–87 and £2,170 million in 1987–88; these figures are consistent with those for net sales show in table 2.17 of Cmnd. 9702–II.
