§ Sir Eldon Griffithsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his statement of 21 October, Official Report, column 31, that the reorganistion of the Metropolitan police is expected to release 200 officers for operational duties, if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis as to the approximate number of Metropolitan police officers currently assigned or expected to be assigned in the near future to the following duties: custody officers and local consultation liaison committees as required by the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, diplomatic protection squads and other personal protection, Special Branch and support 551W for immigration and customs service activities at Heathrow airport and elsewhere: and if he will publish the information in tabular form.
