§ Mr. MellorSixteen females under 21 serving sentences in youth custody centres have given birth since 1 January 1984. One was 16 years old, seven were 17, one 18, two 19, two 20 and three 21.
One had two weeks left to serve, two one month, five six weeks, one two months, one two and a half months, two three months, two three and a half months, one four months and one seven months.
Five had been convicted of robbery, two for the possession of drugs, and one each for robbery and assault, robbery and burglary, burglary, burglary and theft, theft and deception, illegal importation of drugs, abduction, unlawful wounding and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
