Mr. Fatchett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much grant-in-aid was given to Peace through NATO in 1983–84, 1984–85 and 1985–86; how much aid was given to other organisations working for peace; and if he will list those organisations.

Peace through. NATO received grants-in-aid of £68,000 in 1983–84 and £71,500 in 1984–85. There is a provision for a grant-in-aid of £73,000 in 1985–86.

During the same periods the following organisations working for peace were also given grants-in-aid by the FCO:

A grant of £3,000 was given to the Council on Christian Approaches to Defence and Disarmament in the current financial year to help finance its international conference.
