§ Mr. Thurnhamasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will consider the need to widen the M6 between junctions 30 and 31 in order to avoid congestion.
§ Mrs. ChalkerI have engaged consultants to study present conditions on this stretch of the M6 and to consider the likely traffic needs now and up to the turn of the century. I expect to receive their report shortly and to announce my decision on what improvement measures need to he taken early next year.
