Numbers 1980 988 1981 905 1982 1,070 1983 1,144 1984 1,443 The Government launched a campaign in February 1984 to increase public awareness of the benefits of organ transplantation and to promote the donor card scheme, and the encouraging increase in kidney transplant operations performed in 1984 reflects the success of this campaign. Consideration is being given to how the momentum of the campaign might be maintained.
