HC Deb 28 October 1985 vol 84 c372W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the occupancy rate of beds at the new hospital in Chesterfield.

Mr. Whitney

Beds in the new Chesterfield and North Derbyshire royal hospital were first opened on 29 April 1984. During that year, and into 1985, as beds were brought into use, there were further openings. For the period from 1 January to 31 December 1984, the period covered by data so far submitted to the Department, an average of 293 beds were recorded as available daily: the average number occupied was 175, giving an occupancy rate of 60 per cent.
