§ Mr. Marlowasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science to what extent teachers are paid additional remuneration whilst attending courses not in term time.
§ Sir Keith JosephSalary scales for teachers in maintained schools in England and Wales are set out in the Burnham document in the form of annual salary rates applicable to full-time teachers. Overtime or any other payments are not available for work or training undertaken out of timetabled school hours. Allowances for expenses while attending courses may be paid at local education authority discretion, but information about this is not held centrally.
