§ 24. Mr. Hanleyasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether there have been any changes in storage practices, security and personnel following the loss of £174 million in the fire at Royal Air Force Donnington in June 1983.
§ Mr. LeeFollowing the fire at the Army's central ordnance depot, Donnington, in 1983, the Ministry of Defence has introduced a number of changes in store practices, including increased levels of stock inspection and restoration, and dispersion of operationally vital items. Security arrangements have also have been reviewed and some new measures have been, or are in the process of being, implemented. No specific changes in personnel were considered necessary as a consequence of the fire.
