HL Deb 22 October 1985 vol 467 c1079WA
Baroness Jeger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much accommodation for homeless men will be lost as a result of the closure of the Camberwell Resettlement Unit; what alternative provision with specialist help available is to be set up; and at what saving in cost.

Baroness Trumpington

The Camberwell Resettlement Unit was providing 300 staffed bedspaces for homeless men, and the scheme to replace it will provide 963 staffed bedspaces in hostels run mainly by voluntary organisations. There will be no savings as the cost of the alternative provision will exceed the cost of running the Camberwell Resettlement Unit.
