§ Lord Sefton of Garstonasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have received any estimate of likely costs to be incurred in improving or modifying the transport and other infrastructure in the South Eastern Region and whether all the costs will be met by the developers.
The Earl of CaithnessHer Majesty's Government have substantial programmes of infrastructure expenditure properly chargeable to public funds. Details are given in Cmnd. 9428. We are sympathetic to the principle that private developers should meet the cost of infrastructure which is reasonably attributable to their proposed development. No estimate of the cost of such infrastructure in the South East Region is available.
