The available information is for all types of vehicle and relates to proceedings and findings of guilt at magistrates' courts for offences where a vehicle or part was in dangerous or defective condition, and is published annually in "Offences Relating to Motor Vehicles, England and Wales, Supplementary Tables" (offence group 14 of table 1). Information on the average fines imposed for these offences is shown in tables 6 and 12 of the latest issues.
