§ Mr. Peter BottomleyResponsibility for ensuring the safe removal of asbestos lies with those undertaking the work. Such work is subject to the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation. The Health and Safety Executive is the enforcing authority at these sites. The frequency of visits to a particular site depends on the degree of hazard. Health and Safety Executive inspectors also have power to investigate complaints.
