§ Mr. Marlowasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make it his policy that student grants should not be paid to those who take action to prevent the freedom of speech being exercised.
§ Mr. WaldenThe Government are totally committed to the cause of preserving freedom of speech at institutions of higher education. Action against students who seek to prevent it is a matter for the authorities of institutions. If students are sent down or suspended their local education authority has the power to terminate their grants.
