United Kingdom service and civilian personnel strengths by national totals for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and by regions of England are published in tables 4.9 (Service Personnel) and 5.4 (Civilian Staff) of the Statement on the Defence Estimates 1985, part 2 (Cmnd. 9430-II). The names of contractors in receipt of £5 million or more in 1983–84 are published in annex G of part 1 of the White Paper and will be updated for 1984–85 when the 1986 White Paper is published.
