§ Mr. Corbynasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the deaths by fire for each year since 1979 where there was evidence that the possibility of escape was prevented by domestic double-glazed windows.
§ Mr. Giles ShawThe information requested is not collected centrally on a regular basis. A special exercise 137W over July 1983 to June 1984 revealed no cases where the presence of double-glazing was a material factor in causing fire fatalities. This and the examination of specific cases in England and Wales drawn to our attention suggests that there are very few such incidents.
