HC Deb 18 November 1985 vol 87 c57W
Mr. Allen Adams

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what disposal was made of the Lobby carpets that were replaced during the summer recess.

Sir George Young

Carpets in the West and East Lobbies were last replaced in 1983 and 1984 respectively.

During the 1985 summer recess, however, carpets were replaced in the Library corridor, the Tea Room, the Ways and Means corridor, Westminster Hall Committee Room corridor, the Commons private corridor, the Committee Offices, the Official Report Reporters Room, the Liberal Whip's Office and the Harcourt Room. In all cases the serviceable areas of carpet taken up have, or will be, used elsewhere in the Palace of Westminster. Areas that are unsuitable for re-use will be destroyed.
