No reliable information is available for specific types of vehicle. The available information is for all types of vehicle and relates to findings of guilt for offences of dangerous or reckless driving, careless driving, etc., and speed limit offences (offence groups 2, 4 and 15), shown in table 5 of Home Office Statistical Bulletin 28/85. Information on the sentences imposed for these offences is published annually in "Offences Relating to Motor Vehicles, England and Wales, Supplementary Tables"; summary information is given in tables 5, 7 and 8 of the latest issues and details of the fines imposed (including the average fine) and the lengths of custodial sentences given are shown in other tables. The issue for 1984 will be placed in the Library next week.
