§ Mr. Soamesasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on progress in the EUREKA project.
§ Mr. ButcherA declaration of principles relating to EUREKA was agreed by the 18 countries participating in EUREKA and the European Commission at the Conference of Ministers in Hanover on 6 November. Agreements have been concluded on the launching of 10 EUREKA projects; three involved United Kingdom firms. Other projects, some involving United Kingdom firms, are still under discussion.
The United Kingdom has the chairmanship of EUREKA until May 1986 when we will host the next Ministerial Conference.
A copy of the declaration of principles has been placed in the Library of both Houses.
