§ Mr. Tom Coxasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the countries whose adoption laws are recognised by his Department when citizens of the United Kingdom wish to enter the United Kingdom with children whom they have adopted, and those countries from which such children are not accepted.
§ Mr. WaddingtonAdoptions made by order of a court in the United Kingdom or Islands or in one of the countries specified in the Adoptions (Designation of Overseas Adoptions) Order 1973 are recognised as valid under United Kingdom legislation. In addition, an adoption which is valid by the law of the country in which it is made may be recognised in England at common law if at the time of the adoption the adopter was domiciled in that country.
