asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list from 1982 to date the capital developments (a) approved and (b) completed by the Trent regional health authority.

Mr. Whitney

Approval for major capital developments (those costing over £5 million) is given by the Department. A list of such major hospital schemes(a) approved and (b) completed in the Trent regional health authority in the period 1982 to date is as follows:

a. Approved

  • Chesterfield and North Derby Royal hospital phase 2b
  • Glenfield DGH phase 2
  • Leicester Royal infirmary—phase 4b
  • Northern General geriatic.

b. Completed

  • Chesterfield DGH phase 1
  • Glenfield DGH phase 1
  • Lincoln County phase 1
  • Northern General phase lc
  • Rotherham DGH phase 2

Responsibility for hospital developments costing under £5 million is wholly delegated to the regional health authority. If information on these schemes is required, I suggest my hon. Friend contacts the chairman of the Trent regional health authority.
