§ Mr. Allan StewartMy right hon. Friend has received many representations on various aspects of the British Steel Corporation's decision to close the Gartcosh cold-rolling mill. The decision was one for the commercial judgment of the corporation. The closure will reduce surplus capacity in the corporation's cold-rolling activities and thereby increase overall productivity and improve the financial performance of the corporation.
