§ The Solicitor-GeneralThe average waiting time during 1984 between committal from the magistrates' court and start of Crown Court hearing for defendants committed in custody was 10.1 weeks in England and Wales overall, 16.5 weeks in London, and 11.5 weeks in the remainder of the south eastern circuit.
