HC Deb 12 November 1985 vol 86 c160W
Mr. Sean Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many claims for benefit have been dealt with by the Huyton office of his Department in each of the last five years and to date in 1985.

Mr. Major

The numbers of claims for benefit dealt with by the Huyton office of the Department, up to October 1985 and for the preceding four years, are set out in the table:

in 1985–86 would be contained within an increase of 4.7 per cent. of the pay bill. Costs in subsequent years would depend upon the outcome of local agreements intended to lead to major improvements in productivity. Nationally health authorities are expected to meet all pay increases within the total cash sums available to them.
