§ Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he is prepared to consider requests for sales by United Kingdom companies of weapons and military equipment to Israel; and if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy in this regard.
§ Mr. RifkindRestrictions on the sale of weapons and military equipment to Israel were imposed in June 1982 in direct response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. We welcomed the Israeli Unity Government's decision to withdraw but have been disappointed by the continued residual presence of Israeli forces in South Lebanon. Our policy is kept under review.
