HC Deb 11 November 1985 vol 86 c28W
Rev. Martin Smyth

asked the Attorney-General if he will institute proceedings against Celaton Laboratory Research and Jacobson Chemicals Ltd. for offences in relation to the Cosmetic Products Regulations 1984, in the light of the material supplied to the Department of Health and Social Security by the hon. Member for Belfast, South.

The Solicitor-General

I have taken the question as referring to the Consumer Products (Safety) Regulations 1984. Primary responsibility for the enforcement of this legislation rests with the Department of Trade and Industry.

I understand that the Department of Health and Social Security is considering the material referred to by the hon. Member which was sent to the Department on 1 November 1985.

I have asked to be informed of the outcome of that consideration and will write to the hon. Member in due course.
