HC Deb 22 May 1985 vol 79 c459W
52. Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on recent events in Namibia.

83. Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on recent developments over Namibia.

Mr. Rifkind

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave earlier to the hon. Member for Bradford, West (Mr. Madden).

81. Mr. Litherland

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will review the policy of not accepting the International Court of Justice advisory opinion on Namibia.

Mr. Rifkind

No. There are legal difficulties—which have been acknowledged by successive Governments—in accepting the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion of 1971. I do not believe that further examination would resolve these.
