§ Lord Harris of Greenwichasked Her Majesty's Government:
Which London borough councils have so far not made payments to the Receiver of the Metropolitan 394WA Police District in the present financial year; and what is the cost to public funds of their failure to do so by the due date.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Glenarthur)The second instalment of the precepts levied by the Receiver for the Metropolitan Police District fell due on 10th May. He tells me that, by that date, all 40 borough and district councils had paid the first two instalments. It is estimated that the delay by three boroughs in paying the first instalment resulted in a loss of investment income to the Metropolitan Police Fund of some £26,000.
