Mr. Nellist

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many people earn between (a) £15,000 and £19,999, (b) £20,000 and £49,999, (c) £50,000 and £99,999, (d) £100,000 and £249,999 and (e) above £250,000 a year.

[pursuant to his reply, 20 May 1985]: Provisional estimates based on a projection from the 1982–83 survey of personal incomes are as follows:

The figures relate to the numbers of single people and married couples with earned income in the indicated ranges. In the case of married couples, the income of husband and wife has been aggregated.
