HC Deb 20 May 1985 vol 79 cc353-4W
Mr. Nicholson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the anticipated volume of outgoers quota required to restore to base year production levels the quotas of small producers, namely, under 200,000 litres, in each region of the United Kingdom; and how this compares with the initial Government target (in million litres) for each region when the milk cessation scheme was introduced.

Mr. MacGregor

The volume of quota required to restore small producers with less than 200,000 litres to base year production levels is estimated to be as follows:

Million liters
England and Wales 167.0
Scotland 9.4
Northern Ireland 50.0

The initial target for the milk cessation scheme in each region is as follows:

Million litres
England and Wales 289.0
Scotland 29.8
Northern Ireland 66.1

Mr. Nicholson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the volume of outgoers quota required to meet 100 per cent. of development awards made in each region of the United Kingdom by the dairy produce tribunals.

Mr. MacGregor

My earlier reply sets our the percentages of development awards that can be met from the initial reserves in respect of the 1984–85 quota year. The volume of outgoers quota required to bring wholesale producers' awards to 100 per cent. would be as follows:

Million litres
England and Wales 188.1
Scotland 18.4
Northern Ireland 27.9
