§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeThe guidelines issued by the Royal College of Physicians cover payments to volunteers and recommend that ethics committees satisfy themselves that payments are not so large as to induce subjects to take risks primarily for reward. We are awaiting updated advice from the college, the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries and the Medicines Commission.
