§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans have prepared prepared by the European Community Council of Ministers for a contingency involving the effect on the European Community budget of currency fluctuations, or varied farm prices; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Ian Stewart[pursuant to his reply, 7 May 1985; c. 366]: The draft Community budget for 1985, recently established by the Council of Budget Ministers, includes provision to cover the expenditure consequences of the Commission's proposals for CAP prices and the consequences ofa revised assumption about likely exchange rates for the year as a whole. We have made it plain that the Council of Ministers and the Commission must keep agricultural and other expenditure within the budgetary provision now agreed.
