HC Deb 13 May 1985 vol 79 c35W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many miners or their families had money deducted from their social security payments as a result of the treatment of loans from local authorities as income; and what is the total sum involved;

(2) how many miners' families received no payment from his Department in at least one week of the miners' industrial dispute as a result of the treatment of loans from local authorities as income.

Mr. Newton

Separate records are not kept of the resources taken into account in the assessment of entitlement. I regret therefore that the information requested is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
