HC Deb 08 May 1985 vol 78 cc398-9W
Mr. McTaggart

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list the rail services closed within the Strathclyde regional council area since 1975, along with any future proposals to close rail services in that area.

Mr. David Mitchell

The only line to have been closed to rail passenger services in the Strathclyde region since 1975 is between Glasgow and Kilmacolm.

British Rail is considering whether to propose closure of a 500-yard stretch of line between Balloch Pier and Balloch Central. Financial support for this service was withdrawn by the Strathclyde passenger transport executive last December.
