HC Deb 02 May 1985 vol 78 cc225-6W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has received from Her Majesty's ambassador in Tel Aviv regarding the incident described by representatives of the general command of Palestine revolution forces, as broadcast on Voice of Palestine at 1530 hours Greenwich mean time on 22 April, that a ship carrying Palestine guerillas was sent on 20 April to attack targets within the city of Tel Aviv itself; and what observations Her Majesty's ambassadors in Arab countries have made to their host Governments regarding the effect of violence of this kind by Palestine guerillas on the Venice declaration peace process, or that outlined by President Reagan.

Mr Renton

We have noted that responsibility for this incident was claimed by a group which rejects current initiatives to reach a peaceful solution to the Arab-Israel dispute. Our condemnation of violence from whatever quarter is well known. We continue to believe that a solution can be reached only through peaceful negotiations btween the parties directly concerned, at which the voice of the Palestinians would be heard.
