HC Deb 02 May 1985 vol 78 c197W
Mr. Waller

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many driving tests booked at the Keighley and Skipton test centres for dates since 1 January have been cancelled or postponed because no examiner was available.

Mrs. Chalker

The numbers are as follows:

Number In addition tests cancelled because of bad weather
Keighley 179 157
Skipton 298 139
Total 477 296

The Keighley and Skipton driving test centres are normally manned by three examiners. Owing to the unexpected resignation of one of these, only two men have recently been based at the two centres. A third permanent examiner is expected to be posted there on 1 July. Meantime, the traffic area office is posting in examiners temporarily to help out. A fourth permanent examiner is being recruited as soon as practicable.
