§ Mrs. Beckettasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many recipients of (a) standard housing benefit rent assistance, rent rebates and allowances, (b) standard housing benefit rates assistance giving rate rebates only and excluding those also receiving rent rebates and allowances and (c) mortgage interest tax relief have gross annual incomes in the following bands: (i) up to £4,999, (ii) £5,000 to £5,999, (iii) £6,000 to £6,999, (iv) £7,000 to £7,999, (v) £8,000 to £8,999, (vi) £9,000 to £9,999, (vii) £10,000 to £12,499, (viii) £12,500 to £14,999, (ix) £15,000 to £19,999, (x) £20,000 to £24,999 and (xi) £25,000 and more.
§ Mr. WhitneyI regret that the information relating to housing benefit could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. Information relating to mortgage interest tax relief is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
