§ Mr. Tom Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress is being made on the modernisation and maintenance of the Greater Glasgow health board houses at Woodilee and Stonyetts hospitals.
§ Mr. John MacKayThis is a matter for the health board. I am informed by the board that substantial progress has been made on the first phase of the programme which involves expenditure of over £200,000. The board was however informed on 21 March that the contractor involved had been taken into receivership. The board is urgently negotiating with another contractor to take over and complete the works with the minimum of delay, and hopes to be able shortly to determine the full extent of work which it will be able to carry out in the new financial year.
