§ Mr. ButcherNo formal proposal has been put forward by the European Commission about this. The Commission is currently considering with member states the possibility of increasing the incentives for EC shipowners to place orders in Community shipyards.
§ Mr. Frank Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will place in the Library a copy of the document submitted to him by the General Council of British Shipping on changes in the credit arrangements for ships built in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. ButcherReplies were given jointly by the GCBS and BS to a discussion paper put to them by my Department in 1983 concerning possible changes that might be made to these credit arrangements. However, it is not Departmental policy to publish private documents.
