§ Mr. Giles ShawMy right hon. and learned Friend receives annual reports from each chief officer of police on the extent and nature of the drugs problem in his force area, sources of supply and force organisation to investigate drug misuse. Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary has recently emphasised to all chief constables in England and Wales the importance Her Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary will be attaching to the effectiveness of drugs investigations in their annual inspections of polic forces and the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis has identified drug misuse as one of the two new operational priorities in his force strategy for 1985.
