§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Mines and Quarries Act 1954 apply to operations at quarries and the use of explosives is specifically regulated by the Quarries (Explosives) Regulations 1959. The provisions of the regulations, which are currently under review, are directed not only to the protection of quarry workers but also those members of the public who may be threatened by quarry activities.
