Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Prime Minister what consideration Her Majesty's Government are currently giving to new methods of raising local revenue, with particular reference to a poll tax.

The local government finance studies are looking at all the main aspects of the present finance system including how total local authority revenues might best be raised. A poll tax is one of a number of options for raising revenue locally.
