HC Deb 25 March 1985 vol 76 cc17-8W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has, by country of diplomat, of the numbers of persons stopped on suspicion of committing moving traffic offences in respect of whom the police have taken no further action when the person has successfully claimed diplomatic immunity in each of the last five years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mellor

The table below sets out, for each of the last five years, the total number of moving traffic offences which are alleged to have been committed by persons who were entitled to diplomatic immunity.

Number
1980 197
1981 170
1982 156
1983 190
1984 98

Since none of the alleged offences has resulted in court proceedings, it would be inappropriate to relate them to particular missions.
