§ Mr. Peter ReesTable 2.9 of the 1985 public expenditure White Paper includes defence expenditure of a capital nature. This is based on an agreed NATO definition of spending on major capital procurement and construction works and as such it will include the capital costs of the Trident project. The majority of the work on Trident project will be carried out in the United Kingdom and Trident work is only a small component of the figures in table 2.9.
