HC Deb 21 March 1985 vol 75 c579W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what proposals or requests he has now received regarding the use of Mount Pleasant airport for civilian purposes; and what action he has taken;

(2) if he will give details of the arrangements for the cost of using the Mount Pleasant airport for civil purposes and for civilian use of military flights to Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Stanley

The use of Mount Pleasant airport for civilian purposes together with the costs of such use, including that of civilian use of military flights, is currently under consideration with the civil and military commissioners in the island and with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The arrangements are still being finalised. I also refer the hon. Member to his reply from my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on 30 January at column202.
