HC Deb 18 March 1985 vol 75 cc336-7W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to return the redshank, the curlew and the stock dove to the shooting list.

Mr. Waldegrave

I have no immediate plans to add the redshank and curlew to schedule 2 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, but I have asked the Nature Conservancy Council to review the position.

The European Commission has been asked to add the United Kingdom to the list of countries in which the stock dove may be hunted. If agreement to this is secured, that species will be added to Schedule 2, Part II, to the Act, that is species which can be shot by authorised persons at any time.
