§ Mr. Steenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if any of the land that was the subject of directions made under section 98 of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 has been sold by the landowning local authorities concerned.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneI understand that Oldham and Darlington borough councils decided on 7 March to accept tenders for their sites. There is little doubt that the sales will be completed in due course. The Government is determined that where public bodies own land which is unused or underused they should take early action to bring it into use or dispose of it. The directions that have been made are evidence of our resolve.
