The numbers of appeals and applications for leave to appeal in each year since 1979 are as follows:
Number 1979 2,712 1980 2,428 1981 3,321 1982 3,173 1983 3,141 1984 3,220 The figures have hitherto not been collected separately. Arrangements will be made for this to be done with effect from 1 January 1985.
